About Kelly Horton
Having spent the last 25 years as a Dental Hygienist, I've witnessed the profound interplay between nutrition and oral health. My passion for understanding these connections prompted me to gain a Master's Degree in Nutritional and Lifestyle Therapy. I am a member of the British Association for Nutritional and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) and registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
Throughout my life I have embarked on numerous “diets” and health kicks, none of which I adhered to and as a result my weight, mood and energy fluctuated. Then, I had a wakeup up call when I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, prompting me to take my health more seriously and research how I could support my wellness using nutrition and lifestyle. I started by gradually omitting ultra-processed foods, reducing my dairy, sugar and animal fats whilst increasing
my fruit, veg and healthy fat intake. Alongside these dietary changes I try to manage my stress levels by exercise and relaxation activities, such as meditation and walks in nature.
I’m still a work in progress and far from perfect but I understand the challenges of juggling work, family and social commitments whilst living with an autoimmune disease and trying to follow a healthy lifestyle.
